The challenge
Performance Plus Tire sells thousands of wheel and tire combinations across dozens of brands, and every one of them has to fit the customer's exact vehicle. That's a much harder e-commerce problem than a typical online store: products aren't one-size-fits-all, pricing varies by customer type, and the business runs on a sales team that needs real tools, not just a storefront.
Grass Valley Digital built and continues to support the digital platform that helps the business run, despite e-commerce difficulties.
What we built
The entire site runs on Zomix, our e-commerce CMS, covering the full path from product discovery to cart to checkout. On top of that foundation, we developed:
A custom product search and filter system, so customers can narrow down thousands of SKUs quickly
A year/make/model lookup and matching engine that connects a customer's specific vehicle to the wheels and tires that will actually fit it
A custom import/export system for keeping product data and inventory in sync with suppliers
Third-party integrations for shipping, tracking, and logistics APIs
A custom SMS notification system, covering both order-status updates to customers and direct communication between customers and their sales rep
Detailed shipment tracking, with number-level tracking and automated notifications
Sales tools built for the sales team, including the ability to create orders and reusable templates on behalf of customers
Legacy URL handling and redirects, so the site's move to a new platform didn't cost them their search rankings
SEO optimization built into the platform itself
Business-to-business pricing, so wholesale and retail customers see the right pricing automatically
Multiple RSS feeds for indexing, not just by part, but by vehicle and brand, feeding search engines and partners alike
